Being from Wisconsin, I have always enjoyed seeing the clubs come up to the Northern Lights Qualifier or Windy City and saw plenty of top athletes at Triple Crown year after year. The competition they face day in and day out is always top notch as well as the training. Athletes like this are always welcome to schools that spend their winters in snow and some ice, but its always a nice day to be in a gym. Here are some Texas commits who are heading their way “Up North”.
Natalie Glenn – TAV – South Lake Carroll
2021 – Committed to Minnesota
Uber athletic. An understatement when talking about Glenn who is coming from a top notch high school and club program with TAV And South Lake Carroll. Minnesota has taken in top all around athletes from across the nation where it just deepens the depth of their gym. This past year Rachel Kilkelly Rachel Kilkelly 5'9" | OH/LI Shakopee | 2019 State MN of Northern Lights (MN) was the all around athlete who could play multiple positions and was a consistent force in their rotation as a DS. Glenn is left handed and attacks from the left side which isn’t very common. But she can flat out fly. I can see her as a DS and also an option to score out of right back which can be so tough to defend.
Kaylee Cox Kaylee Cox 6'1" | OH Flower Mound | 2021 State TX – TAV – Flower Mound
2021 – Committed to Missouri
A state champion from Flower Mound, Cox is heading to Mizzou which is definitely on the rise. With a high touch and the ability to swing and score from any place on the court, Cox also brings an IQ where she knows how to mix up her shots to find the open spot. A big block, a solid serve receiver, she will be coming into Mizzou which has an athletic style of play and have been extremely physical.
Ally Batenhorst Ally Batenhorst 6'4" | OH Seven Lakes | 2021 State TX – Houston Juniors – Seven Lakes
2021 – Committed to Nebraska
Batenhorst has the perfect blend of size, athleticism, and physicality to dominate anywhere on the court. She will be heading to Nebraska where they most likely will have the top recruiting class in the country. She will join Lindsay Krause on the pin (#1 in the Class of 2021 for Prep Dig NE) and Kennedi Orr Kennedi Orr 6'0" | S Eagan | 2021 State MN , the #1 player out of the Class of 2021 for Prep Dig MN. Coming in at libero is Lexi Rodriguez who was on the Junior national team this past summer and is the top libero out of the Class of 2021 in Illinois. This is a special group and Batenhorst is the type who can step in and make an immediate impact.
Jill Pressly – Excel – Plano West
2020 – Committed to DePaul
Coach Marie Zidek of DePaul is definitely building something big in Chicago and with the likes of Pressly, she is going to have a six rotation gritty outside to work with over the next few years. Pressly has a big arm where she can score from the left side, but can also come out of the middle to find a deep corner. Defensively, she is just solid, anticipates well and is not only great with a first contact, but can anticipate a second contact well to keep a rally going. She will be an exciting player in the Big East against the likes of Marquette and Creighton.
Micah Hall – Lady Bird Johnson
2020 – Committed to Iowa State – San Antonio Magic
The Hall family is no stranger to Iowa State with Micah’s dad playing football for the Cyclones in the 90s. Coach Christy Johnson and her staff have a knack for training liberos with their athletes always being some of the tops in the Big 12. Hall has a really athletic style where she can cover a big range while also being completely under control to make the tough plays look really routine.
Meghan Haan – San Antonio Force – Medina Valley
2020 – Committed to South Dakota State
Haan will bring plenty of versatility to the Jackrabbits who are under the direction of new head coach, Dan Georgalas who built a successful program at Wyoming. Haan has the ability to attack from the pin or out of the middle. A big arm and lateral quickness to be extremely active along the front line. South Dakota State competes in the Summit League which Denver is always a traditional powerhouse along with South Dakota, but there are plenty of programs on the rise in this league with an overall RPI on the rise.
