The 2025 postseason kicked off this week, so we continue to look back at which players had the most impact during the fall.

Here's a look at the sophomores that have stepped up and put together the most blocks (stats through MaxPreps) this fall.

Layne Robinson, Hemlock

At 5'9”, Robinson has found her groove at the net, both in her attacks and her blocking. This fall, the sophomore has put up 89 blocks to lead her team. Her top outing was eight blocks in a two-set match with Breckenridge.

[player_tooltip player_id='732303' first='Annie' last='Saenz'], Concord

Saenz has been a major kill producer for Concord as a sophomore, but also is stepping up with her blocking as she has 86 blocks on the season. Her top showing was a 9-block effort in a three-set match with Hillsdale Academy.

Lillia Hamilton, Barry County Christian

The small school in Hastings has a big performer in Hamilton, who has come through with some impressive block numbers. Hamilton has 86 blocks this season and is nearing 150 for her short prep career. She's had eight matches with at least five blocks.

Lydia Bell, Caledonia

Caledonia has produced some great shot blockers in recent years and Bell looks to be fitting into that mix. The sophomore has 82 blocks in 2025 thus far. She's had a pair of 6-block matches to highlight her season, both in wins over TC West and Mattawan.

Ava Gills, East Grand Rapids

Gills has been up against some great hitters this fall, but has come through with stuffing a lot of big swings. She has 80 blocks in 2025. She started strong right from the get-go with an 8-block performance against Byron Center in the season opener.

Grace Parker, Valley Lutheran

Valley Lutheran is having a strong season with a lot of contributions around the court, but Parker is doing big things in both phases. Along with impressive finishes in the middle, Parker has tallied 77 blocks this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='569774' first='London' last='Gibson'], Marian

Gibson has made the most of getting more opportunities this fall with one of the top-ranked teams in the state. She has 67 blocks for the Mustangs. She's really found another gear in the month of October, starting with eight blocks in a sweep of St. Ursula Academy.

Brooke Badger, Ubly

This 5'9” sophomore is coming through with a lot of deflections and blocks for Ubly. Badger has recorded 63 blocks in 2025. Recently, Badger put up seven blocks in a sweep of Marlette.

Sarah Hoffman, Austin Catholic

Hoffman has had a bigger role with her team this fall and she's come through in the blocking phase with 62 blocks this season. Her season high came in September when Hoffman had eight blocks in a four-set match with Cardinal Mooney.

[player_tooltip player_id='811729' first='Braylee' last='Burg'], Three Rivers

A multi-sport talent, Burg shows good footwork at the net, which has allowed her to be a high-percentage finisher on offense and a steady blocker on defense. She has 62 blocks this fall and recently surpassed 110 for her young career. Burg put up seven blocks in a win over St. Joseph to end September.
