Another great state tournament wrapped up last Thursday at Xtream Arena in Coralville. The girls union and the facility did a great job with the event, once again.

The volleyball was outstanding. The student-athletes were connected and played with great energy. The fans were raucous.

Now that we've had time to exhale, let's take a look back at the week that was, starting with the best of the best. And that's saying something with the amount of talented volleyballers on hand.

I'm going to cap it at 10 players, but here's our Elite All-State Tournament Team, which is selected across all classes:

CAPTAIN

[player_tooltip player_id='800048' first='Kenzie' last='Moeller'], SR, Six-Rotation OH, North Scott

This was a tough call, but I went with the player I felt had the greatest individual impact on the state tournament. While the senior received plenty of help, North Scott isn't in the final, let alone able to win the whole deal in Class 4A without her.

The [program_tooltip program_id='431978' first='Lancers' last=''] defeated higher-seeded teams in each of their three victories at state with Moeller delivering 90 kills and 41 digs in 13 sets. They definitely were a better team when the Southern Illinois commitment rotated into the front row, but she was big in the back row, too.

[player_tooltip player_id='389019' first='Avery' last='Vogt'], SR, S, Waukee Northwest - The only senior in the starting lineup and one of only two seniors in the rotation, Vogt was instrumental in leading the Wolves to their second 5A title in the last three years. They won their last 21 matches this season via sweep. Vogt, a Drake commitment, accumulated 107 assists, 23 digs and 13 kills in the nine sets at state.

[player_tooltip player_id='490013' first='Logan' last='Vogt'], JR, Six-Rotation OH, Waukee Northwest - Avery's young sister is trending towards being one of the special performers that this state has seen. The Iowa State commitment produced 41 kills, 25 digs and nine blocks in nine sets for a team that's very deep.

[player_tooltip player_id='490011' first='Leah' last='Janulewicz'], JR, Six-Rotation OH, Waukee Northwest - An incredibly well-rounded volleyballer, Janulewicz could be the libero on most teams in the state. During nine sets at state last week, the Drake commitment contributed 30 kills, 30 digs and five blocks.

[player_tooltip player_id='230661' first='Ellah' last='Derrer'], SR, MH, Assumption - The Kansas State commitment helped the Knights win state when she was a freshman and played an even larger role in them taking the title as a senior this season. In 10 sets at state, Derrer contributed 50 kills and 10 blocks.

[player_tooltip player_id='389006' first='Carsyn' last='Kelley'], SR, S, Assumption - After setting during Pleasant Valley's run to last year's 5A state championship, Kelley was instrumental in the Knights going the distance in 3A this season. The Evansville pledge capped it off with 108 assists, 22 digs, 14 kills and four blocks in 10 sets at state.

[player_tooltip player_id='389012' first='Channing' last='Johnson'], SR, S, Denver - Johnson led the Cyclones to their second 2A state title in a row. The senior contributed all over the place last week. During 12 sets, she piled up 113 assists, 42 digs, 21 kills and eight blocks.

[player_tooltip player_id='389079' first='Bailey' last='Boeve'], SR, Six-Rotation OH, Hinton - The Creighton commitment enjoyed an incredible tournament in helping the Blackhawks reach the 2A final. In 13 sets, she registered 96 kills and 38 digs.

[player_tooltip player_id='389060' first='Tatem' last='Schmidt'], SR, 6-2 S, Ankeny Centennial - A Southwest Minnesota State commitment, Schmidt was at the forefront of helping the Jaguars reach the 5A state title match. The senior produced 30 assists, 39 digs and 24 kills.

[player_tooltip player_id='455737' first='Sofia' last='Parrott'], SR, S, Saint Ansgar - The Saints marched to the 1A title with Parrott earning captain of that class's all-tournament team. The senior piled up 112 assists, 27 digs, 12 kills and five blocks.
