About Gergana

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I have a competitive, high-energy gameplay style that comes from growing up around sports. I like to push myself, stay active, and bring intensity and focus into whatever I do. I seek feedback so I can improve and enjoy supporting my teammates.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I’m driven, hardworking, and naturally competitive. With parents who were athletes, I grew up valuing discipline, resilience, and a strong work ethic. I’m also proud of my multicultural background, which adds to my openness, adaptability, and respect for diverse perspectives.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I participate in school and community activities outside of sports, and I’m always looking for ways to stay engaged and well-rounded. I am also a part of a surfing club and a Bulgarian school on the weekends when I have time.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Growing up in a household that values athletics helped me develop strong qualities in teamwork, discipline, and perseverance. I’ve learned how to stay focused under pressure, support others, and continuously work to improve myself. I also have a younger sister and have learned that it is very important to lead with personal examples so she can copy good behavior.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Balancing my multicultural identity while growing up in Hawaiʻi taught me adaptability and resilience. It shaped who I am and helped me embrace diversity, overcome pressures, and stay grounded. It has been challenging at times to grow up away from family as everyone other than mom, dad and sister are in Bulgaria or Serbia. I have learned how to stay connected across the globe.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a college where I can grow both academically and athletically — a program that values competitive drive, strong team culture, and a supportive community environment. I want a school that feels like a second home and gives me opportunities to develop as a student-athlete and as a person. I am looking to go into medicine and minor in biology.
