For the first time ever, Kingsley wins the state championship. This was also their first time ever being so far in the tournament, losing to Grand Rapids Christian in the Division 2 Semifinals back in 2019. But over five years later, they will not be denied.

The Stags were propelled by an incredible showcase of defensive play, led by libero Isabelle Seltz. Seltz' elite level court presence was critical in the historic win for Kingsley. Alongside her, she was aided by the offensive range of both [player_tooltip player_id='833201' first='Jenna' last='Middleton'] and Delaney Case.

It was quite the run for all four of these teams and they were led by the standout play from these several stars in Division 3.

OH - [player_tooltip player_id='833201' first='Jenna' last='Middleton']

[player_tooltip player_id='833201' first='Jenna' last='Middleton'] has really been a trailblazer throughout this entire tournament. Acting as the catalyst in Kingsley's upset over NO.1 Roscommon back in the Regional Semifinals, she did not let up from then 'til now. While she was faced with much stronger defensive performances from her opponents, Middleton found ways. In the run up to the championship, Middleton combined for 52 kills and 36 digs. Her steady play shined throughout the weekend, proving to be an engine for this team.

OH - Eliana VanDusen

Kalamazoo Christian continues to just find the magic sauce needed year in and year out. This year, their superstar Eliana VanDusen was quite the show to watch. While this player is mostly in the game for only three rotations, what VanDusen does in that time is spectacular. You can find this attacker bomb just about any shot you give her. She crushes it on the left, hits a nasty 2 ball in the middle and then all of sudden, she is running slides. VanDusen's versatility and high end scoring gave her 37 kills in Battle Creek.

OH - [player_tooltip player_id='226889' first='Madeline' last='Dettling']

For the third time in her career, [player_tooltip player_id='226889' first='Madeline' last='Dettling'] graced the stages of Kellogg Arena. With every time that she has stepped onto the court, she has elevated her game. This one was arguably the best I have seen her play throughout her career. Despite battling through injuries this season, Dettling was great. Putting up 25 kills and 28 digs in the loss to Kingsley, a performance like this is one that makes you wonder how her opponent escaped with the win.

MB - [player_tooltip player_id='800645' first='Olivia' last='Beaudrie']

Right alongside Dettling, [player_tooltip player_id='800645' first='Olivia' last='Beaudrie'] makes one heck of a one-two punch for the Kestrels. This is another player who battled the injury bug this season, but again, you would have NO IDEA. Despite the loss, this weekend was a breakout show for Beaudrie. A 5'7 attacker, hitting out of the middle and playing six rotations, this kind of description is not spoke too often, if ever, in the sport. However, despite being one of the shortest players in the front row, Beaudrie was one of the most dominant. She aided SMCC's repeat efforts with 20 kills and 36 digs in the match, absolutely showcasing her sheer physicality and range.

MB - Delaney Case

While we talk quite a bit about these other players for Kingsley, one of them falls under the radar, but really moves the needle for the Stags. That's in the middle blocker position with Delaney Case. From her offense, to her defense, Case made so much more of an impact than what showed in the box score. With 20 kills and 8 blocks in the championship run, Case's net presence was felt immensely.

S - [player_tooltip player_id='523865' first='Kate' last='Belt']

When looking at the keys to success for this Saginaw Valley Lutheran program, you have to look no further than their setter. The true glue to it all, [player_tooltip player_id='523865' first='Kate' last='Belt'] had a successful run throughout the post season t will her team to a Final Four. Despite the loss in the semifinals, Belt put up 21 assists and added three blocks to her total.

L - Isabelle Seltz

Liberos simply do not get enough love, but this one will be recognized for what she brings to the court. This player is absolutely lights out in the back court. It shows too. It's the relenting pursuit of Seltz that keeps the Stags in rallies, in matches. With 53 digs on the weekend, Seltz was stellar. Beyond what her incredible stats show though, her overall leadership on the court and flow of the game was impressive to behold.
