SCSN Entry Continues: 15U and 17U Set the Tone

The Southern California and Southern Nevada club season continued to build momentum as the 15U and 17U divisions took the court for Mission of One Volleyball. One Community. With a full weekend of competition, this group showed that the foundation for the season is already being laid through effort, adaptability, and a clear hunger to improve.   One of the strongest ways athletes can improve their recruitment process is by advocating for themselves. The players featured below took the initiative to tag PrepDig, share their court schedules, and follow up with thoughtful reflections on their performances.   These spotlights are written from the athletes' perspectives, offering college coaches insight into how they contributed to their teams, responded to challenges, and approached the weekend with intention. Entry-season tournaments are not about perfection. They are about setting standards, identifying areas to grow, and competing with purpose. This 15U and 17U group did exactly that, and their voices help tell the story of a season just getting started.    [player_tooltip player_id='727103' first='Zoe' last='Davis'] credited her team's composure and chemistry as a major reason for their success during SCSN Kickoff Weekend, noting their ability to stay steady even when trailing. From her perspective, the team's energy and willingness to pursue every ball stood out, with no hesitation defensively and a collective commitment to controlling what they could control.   Individually, Zoe took pride in maintaining an aggressive attacking mindset, continuing to swing with confidence regardless of the previous play and consistently applying pressure at the net. Moving forward, she is focused on improving on-court communication and clarification in key moments, along with reacting more quickly to short balls. She highlighted her attacking, blocking, and overall net presence as areas where she made a noticeable impact, especially in high-pressure situations.   Her current development focus remains defense, an area she has intentionally prioritized and continues to see improvement in, while also expanding her attacking arsenal as encouraged by her coaches. Away from the court, Siena maintains a 4.5 GPA, is pursuing a pre-med pathway, and participates in Oaks Christian's Health Institute. She is also preparing for a service trip to the Dominican Republic to help provide medical care to underserved communities.   ~ Michelle Bamford @Coachable247     [player_tooltip player_id='701218' first='Mirei' last='Sanchez'] described feeling confident and effective throughout the weekend, with her serve playing a pivotal role in shifting momentum for her team. She pointed to multiple aces and a six-point serving run as moments where she was able to help her team escape tough rotations and apply consistent pressure.   Looking ahead, Mirei is focused on refining her blocking footwork to become quicker and more efficient in closing blocks. Off the court, she brings the experience of being a six-rotation high school player, which has contributed to her comfort contributing in all areas of the game. She continues to approach each weekend as an opportunity to grow and build consistency.   ~ Michelle Bamford @Coachable247     [player_tooltip player_id='515153' first='Jaylin' last='Kim'] helped guide her team to a third-place finish at SCSN, embracing the challenge of running an efficient offense with a roster that includes several new players. She focused on pushing tempo and creating high-quality opportunities for her hitters, while also challenging herself to be more offensive in the front row. That approach paid off, as she scored seven points on back-row dumps and played a key role in a high-intensity three-set win over Forza1 North.   Jaylin's next area of emphasis is strengthening her front-row blocking through improved footwork and hand positioning. She took pride in executing combo plays with her setter and highlighted a momentum-shifting sequence where she recorded back-to-back blocks to protect her team. Following coaching feedback, Ruby is focused on improving communication with her pin hitters to expand offensive options and stay connected in transition.   Off the court, she balances rigorous academics while serving as a third-year ASB officer, participating in FFA community service projects, and coaching non-travel athletes at her club, a role that reflects her appreciation for the grassroots level of the sport.   ~ Michelle Bamford @Coachable247     [player_tooltip player_id='849385' first='Jordan' last='So'olefai'] helped anchor a strong defensive weekend for Storm 15-1, including a standout rally where she recorded three consecutive blocks, the final one scoring the point and igniting her team. That defensive energy helped propel the team to a 3–0 start on Day 1.   Moving forward, Jordan plans to invest additional time before and after practice working with setters and teammates to strengthen chemistry and skill execution. She identified serve receive as her primary focus moving forward, aiming to deliver more consistent passes that allow her setter to run a full offense, along with serving more intentionally to targeted zones.   Off the court, Emily is actively involved in the National Charity League, Pacific Coast Chapter, where she serves as her grade's parliamentarian.
