Constantly encouraging for her squad and picking up her teammates when things didn't go well fit the leadership portion of the skills needed for the award. Good sporting behavior was also on display, as she was front-and-center for competitive play and athleticism. As far as her actual play was concerned, her first contact—-a hard, topspin jump serve, scored an ace, and it's wasn't even 10am yet. She gripped and ripped to multiple positions from behind the baseline, and that was just her serve. On the attack, Emelia abused blocks, terminated to all angles on both pins and was smart with her attack when the set wasn't perfect. She could “see” what the defense gave her, and took advantage on multiple points throughout the skill drills AND the actual game play. Add to it her positive attitude and full-go, no-quit relentlessness, and it was obvious to this author (and multiple coaches in attendance) that [player_tooltip player_id='727793' first='Emelia' last='Goetz'] earned the Avoli Committed Athlete award.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
