Goetz makes a big leap this cycle. She lands in the top-20 as she is one of the most intriguing pins in Ohio. If she is not on your radar yet, you’re missing out as she continues to be very impressive in how she can impact the full slate of any match. at 5’9, her lift and flight in the air is easy, which leads to one of the best double-arm drives into her bow and arrow. The dynamics of her approach pattern and arm make her highly terminal with pace, range and from anywhere on the court. As she can rip topspin jump serves for points, she also can pass and defend, including a big move up and over when blocking at the net. Last fall, her junior season for Clay led to career best numbers at 356 total kills and a 4.9 k/s average. Her volume of opportunity was over 200 swings more than any teammate as she was effective at a .275 efficiency and 44% kill rate while also leading her team with 61 service aces.

There isn’t a more dynamic arm in the Ohio 2027 class at 5’9 or under. Goetz can flat out bring it at the top of her jump, which is the result of her athleticism, efficient footwork to close to the ball, explosiveness off the floor, and the arm speed she can create to the point of contact. Her action in her passing, defense, and attacking appears effortless given the fluid nature of her movement. TVC 17 Black will open play in 17 USA as the #17 seed overall.

At 5’9, Goetz (*pictured) is athletic and dynamic as a primary pin attacker. What she lacks in length compared to those at 6’0 and up, she certainly makes up for with her physical arm and tenacity as a point scorer. Her career best output of 356 total kills and team high 4.9 k/s for Clay is evidence of what she can do. Her arm speed can score at either pin as well as apply a ton of pressure from the service line as she had 61 total aces in 2025. Competing this weekend at the Nike River Rumble, she has helped her TVC 17 Black team to a 3-0 start on Saturday, without dropping a set so far.

Named the Avoli Committed Athlete at the Ohio Exposure Tour, Emelia was an immediate impact from the baseline. Her tough, topspin jump serve gave fits to outsides and DS’s alike, and then she started attacking. With a hard and heavy swing in-system and smart, error-free shots out-of-system Miss Goetz was the clear winner of the award and was the top attacker for a number of coaches as well as this author on Saturday. I look forward to her development as a six-rotation, primary attacker this club season.

From the instant warmups started to the final swing, Emelia stood out as THE Avoli Committed Athlete. Constantly encouraging for her squad and picking up her teammates when things didn’t go well fit the leadership portion of the skills needed for the award. Good sporting behavior was also on display, as she was front-and-center for competitive play and athleticism. As far as her actual play was concerned, her first contact—-a hard, topspin jump serve, scored an ace, and it’s wasn’t even 10am yet. She gripped and ripped to multiple positions from behind the baseline, and that was just her serve. On the attack, Emelia abused blocks, terminated to all angles on both pins and was smart with her attack when the set wasn’t perfect. She could “see” what the defense gave her, and took advantage on multiple points throughout the skill drills AND the actual game play. Add to it her positive attitude and full-go, no-quit relentlessness, and it was obvious to this author (and multiple coaches in attendance) that

Goetz had a breakout season in 2024 as a sophomore pin and primary option for Clay. With a career best 249 kills, she average 3.5 k/s on a 42% kill rate. She uses a big double arm lift that helps get her off the floor well that is followed by an aggressive swing. Look for her to increase her output this coming fall.

With nearly 250 total kills in the 2024 high school season, Goetz was a big factor for Clay in her first varsity action. She led the Eagles at 3.5 k/s as they finished 18-5 overall. At 5’9, Goetz has good attacking mechanics in her step-close footwork that helps her score aggressively and with good movement and arm control. Check her out this club season Toledo VC 16 Black.
