Freshman middle Reese McDuffie gives us a completely different 2030 evaluation. She leads Milton in both hitting percentage at .336 and total blocks with 54. MaxPreps.com
Middle is one of the hardest positions for a young player to fake her way through. Reese has to read the setter, recognize pass quality, decide whether she can stay with the opposing middle and then move laterally fast enough to actually influence the pin. That’s a lot of information to process before the attacker ever contacts the ball.
What I like is that Reese’s impact is already showing on both sides of the net. The next jump will come through transition speed. Can she land from a block, release quickly and make herself available before the defense resets? If she can pair that offensive availability with the blocking instincts she’s already developing, her ceiling becomes significantly more interesting. ~ S.Fitzgerald @BenchtoBeast_prepdigga

Reese McDuffie is a freshman already leading Milton with 50 blocks. That should make recruiters curious immediately. Not because 50 blocks automatically makes someone a future college middle, but because young middles usually need time to learn how to read. There is a lot happening in front of them.
Setter position. Pass quality. Approach routes. Tempo. Pin availability. A freshman consistently finding herself involved in that many blocks is getting valuable repetitions very early. What I would not do is evaluate McDuffie as though she is already a finished prospect. I’d watch the foundation.
How naturally does she move laterally? Does she recognize where the offense is going before the ball leaves the setter’s hands? Does she keep her hands strong over the net? Physical development will come. Strength will come. The exciting part is that she is already doing the difficult mental work of playing middle at the varsity level. For a 2030 prospect, that’s a very good place to begin.~ S.Fitzgerald @BenchtoBeast_prepdigga

Few freshmen have announced themselves at the varsity net as quickly as Reese. The Milton middle already has 36 total blocks, the highest reported total on MaxPreps’ statewide Georgia leaderboard. Milton’s team page also lists her at a .382 hitting percentage, meaning her early impact has not been limited to defense.
What makes Reese especially intriguing is how much middle-blocker development is still ahead of her. Blocking at the varsity level requires processing the setter, tracking attacking options and moving laterally against athletes who are faster and more physical than most freshmen have previously faced. The numbers suggest Reese is already affecting where opponents can comfortably attack. As her transition speed and offensive connection continue developing, the same player who currently changes rallies with her blocking could become increasingly difficult to contain on the other side of the net. ~ S.Fitzgerald @BenchtoBeast_prepdigga
