Later today, the updated class of 2028 rankings will be released with a good number of changes and additions. There are plenty of things to unpack when we released updated rankings, so let's get started.

What do these rankings mean?

In short, the rankings are a prediction of where that athlete might be at the next level. They are, in no way, related to how they are as players RIGHT NOW. Being that this is a predictive list, one can naturally assume that these rankings are subjective, and can change from time to time. There are those that we flat out missed in our recruiting runs, and there are some that might have a higher predictive value—-even though they might be found on their age group's “2s” team. This is an opinion piece, and nothing more.

I don't like where I landed on the list. How can I change that? And when do the rankings get updated?

As per usual, we get a TON of suggestions and (not so nice) opinions as to what people agree or disagree with in this release. In some cases, a ranking may have dropped because someone who was previously lower on the list blew us away with their skills. In other less common cases, someone may have been injured or possibly committed to another sport in a higher capacity. The latter case has happened four times in the last update of the ‘26 rankings for Indiana. As for when they get updated, think of this in a quarterly cycle—-December (post-high school/pre-club), March (mid-club), late May/early June (post club season) and late August/early September (high school season). We try to keep on that cycle to be relevant to any changes and improvements that the athletes have shown, and attempt to see as many athletes as possible during that time period.

OK, so now what?

This week will have a collection of six articles that will focus on 30 (!!!) unique athletes. The articles will be split daily between Stock Risers (Tuesday), New Additions (Wednesday), Pins (Thursday), Middles (Friday), Setters (Saturday) and DS/Liberi (Sunday). Each article will have five athletes from five different clubs from around the state, and each athlete will have an individualized evaluation just for them.

My profile is inaccurate/I changed clubs/I transferred high schools. What can I do?

With over 1000 athletes under the four class rankings lists, it is impossible for us to be perfect. If any adjustments need to be made, go ahead and make them! Claim your profile (free), make changes (also free) and remember to save your changes! We've had changes that have included clubs, high schools, heights (up to two inches off!) and even positional changes that this author can't keep up with. Any help that you can give us, we're more than happy to receive.

How do I get in touch with you?

It's easy to find me. Use email vbref12@mail.com whenever you have updates or changes, and I'll be happy to take a look. If you've got video of updated play that would cause your ranking to be changed, send that too! We get dozens of emails per week that include video from high school, club and showcase play, and all of it helps. What we DON'T appreciate is insulting, rude and inappropriate commentary. In those cases, we ignore and delete the email, and make note of whom the email was from for future evaluations. Just a reminder: college coaches are also subscribers to our articles and rankings, nationwide. Anything we write (or receive from you, the reader) can reach their eyes and ears quickly, and bad news travels far faster than good news.

AS ALWAYS, THIS WHOLE THING IS ABOUT THE ATHLETE'S EXPERIENCE. WE WANT TO HIGHLIGHT AS MANY ATHLETES AS POSSIBLE, AND NOT JUST THE TOP TEN THAT MOST PEOPLE KNOW. BE KIND, HAVE FUN, AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
