New Talent Across 3 Divisions in the 15s at Big City Luau

While the highest levels of competition often feature the most established teams, quality volleyball and standout talent can be found throughout every tier of play. The Big City Luau tournament was no different. As we begin evaluating players across the freshman Class of 2029, it was exciting to watch matches across multiple levels and see high level play and emerging talent in each. Below are a few up and coming players who stood out and are worth keeping an eye on moving forward. Schulz is a reliable outside hitter who does a solid job getting up and using the block to her advantage. She can terminate hard shots both cross court and down the line, while also showing good court awareness by reading the block and using rolls or tips when the situation warrants them. In addition, she is dependable in serve receive and contributes consistently on defense.     Abrahamson is a developing, young middle who does a solid job reading the net and tracking play. She moves laterally with good control, consistently getting her hands on balls on both offense and defense while maintaining balance and avoiding the net. She brings a steady, reliable presence to the middle and adds additional value with an effective float serve that racked up many points for her team on the weekend.     Biermeier is a strong defensive specialist with an effective jump, float serve that consistently scores her team points or puts opponents out of system. Defensively, she reads the game well and moves quickly to position herself in optimal digging angles, rather than simply standing behind the block. Her court awareness and ability to read and react allow her to make controlled digs and passes that lead to extended rallies.     Wallace is a young, athletic outside hitter with a strong vertical and quick transition off the net. She is capable of terminating on big swings both cross court and down the line, and shows good awareness by adjusting effectively to the block. She also performs well in out of system plays, showcasing solid timing and consistently making the most of her opportunities.     Greenawalt is a promising young outside hitter with an extremely high ceiling of potential. She already displayed exceptional skills by being able to attack effectively off the pass, serve receive with consistency, and transition smoothly into her approach. She also demonstrates advances game IQ and court vision by reading the block in front of her and making smart decisions. She consistently finds ways to be impact with every ball sent her way whether it is in or out of system. Greenawalt is definitely one to keep tabs on.     Gadey is a young, promising outside hitter and clearly a rising star. She possesses an exceptionally fast arm swing for her age, allowing her to terminate balls with authority. She is equally effective both down the line and cross court, using her strong vertical to get up and over the block or by going around it. She is a reliable scoring option regardless of location as she is lethal from both pin. She is dynamic for her age as she can already consistently finish plays when in system and even on those long out of system sets. Overall, simply a player to keep tabs on as she is going places.
