About Ava

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

With several years of pin hitting experience, I am able to bring a full spectrum perspective as a setter. I have continued to grow & develop my gameplay style from a different positional perspective. As a setter, I am aggressive & can flex between controlled and tactical, or fast and aggressive, depending on the needs of my team and our competition.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am a positive person with resilience. I am adaptable and able to balance my competitiveness with emotional control. I am confident and passion driven. I can give myself the same "next ball" mentality that I offer my team during challenges. I value being a leader for my team and strive to demonstrate this everyday.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

In addition to volleyball club, I am involved in my church including youth activities and volunteer events.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

-Demonstrated leadership, adaptability, and a strong team-first mindset. -Known for coachability, communication, and positive team impact. -Versatile athlete who contributes through leadership, effort and consistency.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Yes, transitioning from a pin position to a setter was a significant challenge I faced. I had 5 years of volleyball experience and was confident in my position. I embraced this as an opportunity. I transitioned with versatility, adaptability and a strong understanding of offensive systems. I have been able to continue to work on making up for lost time with the work I put in every day.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a college that has a good reputation and supports my educational needs in alignment with my goals.
