About Laylah

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I play with an aggressive, competitive mindset, uphold a strong work ethic, and serve as a natural team leader. I take pride in motivating my teammates and maintaining a positive, high-energy environment both on and off the court.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I approach everything with a go-getter mindset, knowing that true greatness is earned through work outside of practice. I’m highly motivated, determined, and committed to continuous improvement as both a player and a person

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I have been voted Teammate of the Year for 8 of the 9 years on my competitive cheer team. This award, voted solely by my teammates, means a great deal to me because it reflects the respect and trust I’ve earned from them. Beyond cheer, I volunteer in my school’s summer program, mentoring younger students, further reflecting my commitment to supporting others both on and off the court.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Over the last nine years in competitive sports, I’ve developed strong leadership and teamwork skills through sports. I lead by example with my work ethic, competitiveness, and positive attitude. I push myself to improve every day while encouraging my teammates to do the same. I strive to be a dependable, coachable player who works hard on and off the court and always prioritizes team success.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

In June 2024, I tore my meniscus and missed my entire season. Determined to come back better than before, I joined my first club team to gain extra reps before the 2025 season. After only playing Volleyball for one year, I knew I would have to work extremely hard to earn playing time. This experience strengthened my resilience and made me a more focused and competitive player.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a college with a strong volleyball program and a supportive, positive environment where I can contribute both athletically and personally. It is also important to me that I get a good education as I prepare for future success in my chosen career field.
