Volleyball participation continues to surge, and the talent pool is deeper than we've seen in years. That's great news for the sport — and for the athletes putting in the work.

A common question we hear is: How do players get on the radar? The process is simple, but it requires consistency — watch film, circle the name, watch in person, and repeat. College coaches are already tracking 2028 athletes, evaluating skill sets, growth potential, competitiveness, and even body language. They are identifying what fits their system and what projects long-term.

We are right there alongside them — studying film, evaluating in person, tracking development, and helping connect athletes to the next level. The middle blockers featured below have repeatedly surfaced in our research and live evaluations. So who are they — and why should they already be on your watch list? Let's break it down.

[player_tooltip player_id='757515' first='Nelita' last='Nelson'] continues to surface on film and in live evaluations because of her physical presence and timing at the net. She closes blocks with discipline, pressing over the tape with active hands and sealing inside seams. Her lateral footwork is efficient, allowing her to move pin-to-pin without drifting. Nelson reads the setter's shoulders well and reacts under control rather than guessing.

Offensively, she runs a fast first tempo and stays available in transition. Her approach is compact and repeatable, and she maintains a high contact point even when the pass isn't perfect. She scores with both power and placement, working deep corners and exploiting mismatches. ~Theresa @prepdigdakotas

Why track her now: Nelson's two-phase impact — controlling the block and staying live in transition — projects well into tempo-driven collegiate systems

[player_tooltip player_id='877566' first='Arabella' last='Pries'] stands out for her offensive versatility. She's comfortable running the slide and shows strong hip mobility when opening to attack cross-court. Her ability to stretch laterally forces blockers to adjust, creating seams for the entire offense.

At the net, Pries competes above the tape with an aggressive press and strong hand positioning. Her transition speed is noticeable — she gets off the net quickly after blocking and re-establishes as an attacking option, keeping defenses unsettled. ~Theresa @prepdigdakotas

Why track her now: Middles who can score laterally and extend the defense are valuable pieces in spread offenses at the next level.

[player_tooltip player_id='756393' first='Jaylee' last='Brower']'s game is built on discipline and efficiency. Her block timing is consistent, and she maintains square shoulders while sealing cross-court lanes. Brower tracks tempo well and closes gaps without overcommitting, making her reliable in structured defensive systems.

Offensively, she runs a clean first-step tempo and stays balanced through contact. Her arm swing is compact and controlled, allowing her to terminate without unnecessary error. She maximizes her touches rather than chasing volume. ~Theresa @prepdigdakotas

Why track her now: Brower's consistency and defensive discipline suggest long-term reliability within system-based collegiate programs.

[player_tooltip player_id='811322' first='Autumn' last='Huston'] brings athleticism and vertical presence to the middle. She elevates well and competes above the net, giving her an advantage as both a blocker and attacker. Her lateral closing speed allows her to challenge pin hitters and disrupt rhythm.

Huston is especially effective in transition offense. She reloads quickly after blocking and remains aggressive on quick tempo sets. Her approach mechanics generate lift, and she finishes high through contact with confidence. ~Theresa @prepdigdakotas

Why track her now: Her physical tools combined with competitive edge create significant upside as she continues to develop.

[player_tooltip player_id='702576' first='Lillian' last='Ruschoff'] shows a strong technical foundation. Her hands are positioned to take space rather than absorb contact.

Offensively, Ruschoff runs tempo comfortably and remains composed in scramble situations.
