They've done it again.

Last year's Club Legacy 15 Alpha crew made quite an impression on the local circuit, but we couldn't have predicted how much the team would prosper when qualifiers arrived. 15 Alpha traveled to Kansas City's Show Me Qualifier and secured a GJNC bid with a 15 American championship. That sets quite a precedent for 2026.

But this team has never shied away from pressure. If anything, 16 Alpha is a year wiser and even more cohesive in 2026. That growth allowed the team to repeat history--but in a different venue, and ahead of schedule.

Club Legacy 16 Alpha will return to USAV Nationals on the heels of another dominant championship run. This time, the venue of choice was the third Northern Lights Qualifier in Minneapolis.

Untouchable

The NLQ field had little answer for the defending Show Me champs.

Club Legacy's championship form is clearly not reserved for Kansas City. 16 Alpha made an early statement in the Minneapolis race with three-straight Round 1 sweeps. No opposing team managed to reach 20 points in a set during the Friday slate.

That trend would have continued into Saturday if not for a deuce set win in the Round 2 finale against Mizuno M1. Still, Club Legacy preserved its perfect record in both set and match victories heading into Championship Sunday. It's an extraordinary feat, but it's not the first time we've seen this from 16 Alpha.

The first wave of adversity hit early in bracket play. 16 American's margin for error is small, so Club Legacy's work was far from over. That work got tougher with a Set 1 loss to Freeze Volleyball in the Gold opener.

16 Alpha had a response. The Great Plains competitors rolled in the following two sets to stay alive and climb one step further.

From there, it was back to the status quo. Club Legacy inched closer with a sweep over AVB, and a home-standing Mizuno M1 squad could not keep pace in the semifinals.

And, after a weekend full of emphatic triumphs, 16 Alpha had one more for the NLQ crowd. Club Legacy clinched the lone bid in 16 American with a straight-set win in the title bout over St. Joe Storm.

In a division that often demands running the table, 16 Alpha pulled it off--again.

Consider this a guide to building a title-winning roster.

16 Alpha exhibited versatility, firepower, ball control, and just about any other superlative you can assign to a team. We have to credit the lineup that made the NLQ triumph possible.

If versatility is the team's defining trait, multi-talented athlete [player_tooltip player_id='774684' first='Madyson' last='Jacobson'] embodies it. This Millard South sophomore had an exceptional prep season as a pin hitter last fall, but her on-court role takes on a new form in the Club Legacy gym. Jacobson morphs into a game-changing setter-opposite who sets the pace for 16 Alpha around the dial. We are continuously taken aback by everything this 2028 prospect can do in any rotation.

Jacobson can shoulder a leading attacking role, but she also has plenty of big guns to set on the outside. [player_tooltip player_id='763640' first='Kelsie' last='Holder'] has blossomed at the left-side hitter spot, giving a new jolt of balance and power to the 16 Alpha frontcourt. She is accompanied by the heavy arm of [player_tooltip player_id='575239' first='Nora' last='Morgan'], who produced highlight moments throughout her stay in Minneapolis. Morgan's takeover ability as a pass-to-attack weapon has been a storyline since she appeared at our Prep Dig Circuit events.

Club Legacy also boasts some of the highest-flying middle blockers in Nebraska's Class of 2028. Kamryn Hohenstein and Alayna Thrasher have helped anchor this spot, providing a lot more than scoring potential in front of the setter. They have also churned out the block touches needed to operate a quick, efficient transition offense. Jenna Kathol and [player_tooltip player_id='774689' first='Josie' last='D'Agosto'] are two more tremendous multi-sport athletes to watch in the stacked group of assets at the net.

[player_tooltip player_id='774690' first='Emersyn' last='Buechler'] commands the right side across the dial from Jacobson. Her southpaw approach led to nightmare matchups that catalyzed the team's dominant victories at NLQ.

Morgan

Of course, 16 Alpha's terminators get plenty of help from the ball control players taking care of first and second contacts. When Jacobson is not dishing the offense, [player_tooltip player_id='779001' first='Berkeley' last='Osborne'] slots into the back row and maintains the team's fluid, accurate setting. She has also established herself as an elite right-back defender to keep 16 Alpha in marathon rallies.

Speaking of defense, this is where [player_tooltip player_id='774692' first='Lucy' last='Stockdale'] stakes her claim as a game-changing libero. 16 Alpha typically doesn't platoon many defensive specialists, so Stockdale is tasked with working alongside her outside hitters to lock down the back row. It has been a winning strategy with Stockdale forming tremendous chemistry with Morgan and Holder, among many others. Defense is a group effort, but Stockdale is in charge.

And that group effort has yielded the highest level of excellence for a second consecutive season. Club Legacy is back in the big dance.
