For the 2027 class, this summer isn't just another stretch of tournaments—it's the final proving ground before stepping into their senior seasons. It's where roles become defined, leadership takes shape, and players separate not just by ability, but by impact. And at the center of it all, the middle blocker position is becoming one of the most influential spots on the court.

This group of middles is stepping into that moment.

From what I've tracked throughout the club season and past school season, these athletes are no longer just developing—they're producing—and more importantly, they're leading. They're establishing early in rallies, demanding the ball in first tempo, and creating accountability at the net. But leadership at this position isn't just about scoring—it's about communication, reading the game, and controlling space. That's where this group is elevating.

Heading into this final summer before their senior year, these middles are not just part of the system—they're becoming the ones that drive it.

Leadership at the middle position isn't always loud—it's built through consistency, communication, and control. And this group is showing all of it.

As the summer approaches, these 2027 middles are stepping into roles where they're expected to lead the front row, control tempo, and anchor the net. They're not just preparing for their senior seasons—they're setting the standard for them.

And if this trajectory holds, this group won't just lead—they'll define what high-level middle play looks like.

[player_tooltip player_id='826601' first='Julia' last='Easters'] leads from the center of the court with a command of tempo that keeps her offense flowing. She establishes early in first tempo and continues to re-engage in transition, forcing the block to account for her every rotation. What stands out is how she directs the block—reading setter tendencies and making quick adjustments that tighten seams. Julia is stepping into a leadership role as a communicator and organizer, making sure the front row is connected and disciplined. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas
