was rolling when we watched her play at the Pacific Northwest Qualifier this season. The Florida State commit can hammer the ball and has the overall game you would expect to see from an elite beach player. She is a unique combination of skill and power, as comfortable setting a second ball as she is driving a shot hard angle at the 10 foot line. Filimaua has been a show stopper in the PNW since eighth grade, and no stage has been too big for her to succeed. Florida State is bringing in a special player!

The six-rotation mainstay in the Forefront lineup delivered in all phases of the game. She has such a great arm that it’s easy to overlook her consistent serve receive, strong block, and sweet setter hands. She blasted kills off of blockers’ hands, and when the second ball comes her way she can deliver a pin-point set from anywhere on the floor.

Prior to joining NPJ 18 Forefront for her senior season, Fillimaua previously played for the NPJ Seattle team. She was undoubtedly a major offensive and defensive threat for those teams, rarely seen off the court as a six-rotation outside hitter. An impressive beach player as well, she sees the court incredibly well and has some serious hops and hang time, a combination of natural athleticism and cross-training in the sand. Committed to play both sand and court at Florida State, Filimaua is a major west coast pick up for the Seminoles.

Kyleene has been on the radar from an early age in the Washington junior volleyball scene. It did not take long for her to arrive nationally either, verbally committing early on to Florida State. As powerful and skilled as she is indoors, it might be in the sand where she has the highest ceiling. She has been training on the beach side with the USAV National Team Development Program, and watching her display all her skill reminds you she is multi-talented. She could still play setter if needed, her hands are buttery soft, and the set location is on point. She will play both at FSU, and it will be fun to see her career progress.
