Pietz was a workhorse at the Showcase; court coaches gave her a Top Performer award as soon as the middles split into positional drills. “Advanced, physical, and competitive” is how one coach described the Ballard freshmen’s game. Pietz went toe-to-toe with some very tough upperclassman middles and held her own. She is a player to watch this high school season.

Pietz is going to be a handful for opponents in the middle. She has strong hands and is active and quick as a blocker and as an attacker in transition. Her Space Needle 14 setters find her on a variety of routes, including the slide and a gap “3” Pietz hammers down. She hits a flat, hard floater from the service line- Pietz has great success keeping teams out of the system when it’s her time to serve.
