Summer NIT Preview: Precision Setters and Relentless Defenders

The Summer NIT will feature explosive hitters and dominant blockers, but none of it happens without the athletes controlling the action behind the scenes. Setters dictate the tempo, distribute the offense, and put their teammates in position to succeed, while liberos anchor the backcourt with elite ball control, defensive instincts, and relentless effort. These players may not always receive the spotlight, but their impact is felt on nearly every rally. As teams prepare to face some of the nation's top competition, these precision setters and relentless defenders have the skill, composure, and volleyball IQ to make a major difference. Here are some of the setters and liberos we'll be keeping a close eye on at Summer NIT.    Izzy sees Summer NIT as a chance for her team to prove that all of the work put in behind the scenes is paying off. After spending countless hours training and competing throughout the season, she is excited for the opportunity to test herself against some of the nation's top programs. Izzy tells PrepDig Nevada,   "We are always in the gym working and grinding away for opportunities to prove that we can not only compete with top teams in the country but also win"   Coaches and spectators can expect to see a team that brings plenty of energy to the court and supports one another every step of the way.   <h3 class="wp-block-heading">Isabella's Personal Goal</h3>   "A personal goal I have set up for myself is to just go after the ball no matter what and I'm hoping to show college coaches that I can compete in their programs." She views earning an invitation as a significant accomplishment for her teammates and coaches, telling PrepDig Nevada,   "Being able to compete in this tournament is a great opportunity to showcase our skills, but also get to compete in a very high level tournament."   When her team takes the court, coaches and spectators can expect to see the results of countless hours of practice along with a group that embraces both competition and having fun. Olivia believes her team's drive and chemistry help set them apart.    <h3 class="wp-block-heading">Olivia's Personal Goal</h3>   “I'm hoping colleges to show my role on the court/off the court and my skills as a setter, but also how well my team competes together!”   Olivia plays Top Flight Volleyball 16 National Black. Good luck this weekend Olivia !   -Kantessa Bryant-Miller @prepdignv     Analeigh is eager for the opportunity to compete at Summer NIT, viewing the event as a chance to test herself against some of the best competition in the country while continuing to prepare for the Girls Junior National Championships. She sees the tournament as an important step in helping move both her team and the Vegas Aces program forward. Analeigh tells PrepDig Nevada   “Earning a spot in this prestigious tournament means being able to compete with the best of the best.”   While her team brings strong passing, consistent setting, and aggressive attacking to the court, she believes their greatest strength is their energy and culture. According to Analeigh, no matter the opponent or score, her team will be “the loudest people in the gym, no doubt.”   <h3 class="wp-block-heading">Analeigh's Personal Goal</h3>   “For this weekend, a personal goal I have set for myself is BALL OUT. My goal is to step on the court and be able to trust my training and play my best game. I'm hoping to show everything I have been working on leading up to this weekend and have the best energy and communication on the court.”   Analeigh plays for Vegas Aces 15 REN. Good luck this weekend Analeigh!   -Kantessa Bryant-Miller @prepdignv     Lyla is excited for the opportunity to compete at Summer NIT after a season filled with hard work and dedication. She believes earning a spot in the tournament is a reflection of the progress her team has made and proof that they belong among high-level competition. Lyla tells PrepDig Nevada,   “We have worked hard all season to get to these high-level tournaments. Now that we get to compete, it shows that this team is capable of doing so many amazing things in our volleyball life.”   When her team takes the court, coaches and spectators can expect to see a fast-paced style of play fueled by a strong offensive attack.    <h3 class="wp-block-heading">Lyla's Personal Goal</h3>   ”A personal goal I have set for myself is my leadership on and off the court and I hope college coaches will see that and take this aspect into consideration when going through all these different players trying to get recruited.”   Lyla plays for Vegas Aces 15 REN. Good luck this weekend Lyla!   -Kantessa Bryant-Miller @prepdignv     Ellee is especially excited for Summer NIT because it marks a historic moment for her program. As the first team from Top Flight Volleyball Academy to earn an invitation to a Triple Crown event, she sees the opportunity as both an accomplishment and a reflection of the hard work her team has put in throughout the season. Ellee tells PrepDig Nevada,   “It's a huge accomplishment for our team and being able to represent our club.”   While talent is important, she believes what truly sets her team apart is its culture. Coaches and spectators can expect to see a group built on effort, communication, grit, and strong teammate relationships, qualities that allow the team to play connected volleyball and perform at a high level.    <h3 class="wp-block-heading">Ellee's Personal Goal</h3>   “What personal goal I have set for myself it to show who I am as a player the oldest that I can.
