Expert Analysis

More of a middle than a right side for the next level, Adele’s ability to read and react to plays defensively sets her apart from the others on this list. Her blocking is terminal—-in other words, she ends plays with her block, which shows her ability to penetrate deep into the opponent’s court when they attack. On offense, she has some of the quickest footwork in transition, allowing her to be available to hit regardless of where the pass is. She’s an M2 for the next level ONLY because she’s so good at zero-tempo sets in front of the setter.

Speaking of big and physical, Adele’s play in the middle makes attackers AND defenders think twice about her. With her size, speed and volleyball acuity, she earned 15 kills and 6 blocks last week. For a middle, that’s a fantastic complement to have in addition to a primary attacker. Adele will need to bring all of that and more for Marian to advance further this fall.

One of the better hybrid middles available in this class, Adele uses every bit of her 6’1″ frame to attack both in front of and behind the setter. Her two-footed attack is solid in both positions, and her experience playing in both just makes her that much more marketable to the next level. She really showed out at MEQ’s here in Indy in March as a ready-to-hit M2 with length to block anyone in any position. It shouldn’t be long now before offers start rolling in for Adele.

Big and physical, Adele can play either the middle or right side positions with ease, and I’ve seen her do just that at a high club level of play. Quick-footed and quick-armed, Miss Macer can terminate on any angle and either off of two feet or one foot, depending on the needs of the team. Her versatility allows her to come at opposing defenses with multiple different looks to her attack, making her that much more able to score points. Oh yeah, she’s also over six feet, which can’t be taught.

Capable of playing either middle or right side, her most recent play has her as an M2 for NIVA’s 17 Purple (17-1) squad. Her length is her strength, and her transition footwork gets her full 6’1″ frame up in a hurry. More terminal as a defender at the moment, I personally like her on the right side more than the middle, but that shouldn’t limit her recruitment, as anyone could use a kid over 6′ these days.

One of the bigger right sides in this or any class, Adele is a quick-footed and quick-armed attacker that can cause fits for opposing attackers because of her length on defense. She also attacks quite high, and likes going at a faster tempo than most over-six-foot right sides. Despite her long and lean build, however, she still takes up a ton of space on the block against opposing outsides, and will be an asset for anyone looking for size and speed.

Able to play on the right side OR as an M2 at the next level, Adele is a long and intimidating presence on the right pin. She’s tough to go against when she blocks—outsides have regularly had to alter their shots going against her because of her blocking strength. As an attacker, she hits high and hard and can hit any angle available to her. Add to all of this her 6’1″ frame, and you can see how Adele is an integral part of this, or any, roster.
