About Aliana
What's your biggest strength as a player, and how does it show up in games?
My biggest strength is my reactive quickness. This allows me to read the hitters shoulders and explode towards the ball before it clears the net. In games, my quickness helps me by getting consistent digs, covering the ball after blocks, and getting defensive saves.
What are you working to improve right now?
Right now, I am focusing on my out of system setting accuracy. I am working to deliver a high, consistent ball to our hitters, making sure we can still execute an aggressive attack. I am also refining my serve receive range to confidently take up more court space and relieve pressure from our primary attackers. Lastly, I’m also focusing on vocal defense leadership by being louder and directing.
What are you looking for in a college program?
I am looking for a competitive college program with a supportive coaching staff. My goal is to find a program that pairs this high energy volleyball culture and a successful undergraduate business school, allowing me to learn from coaches who push my athletic limits while I build the skills needed for a business career.
Outside of your sport, what should coaches know about you?
Outside of volleyball, coaches should know that my leadership extends to my high school and local community. I am highly disciplined as a percussionist in my high school band which has sharpened my focus, internal rhythm and ability to work seamlessly within a large ensemble. I also volunteer as a teen leader at my church where I assist in mentoring 1-3rd graders.
What do you want to study, and what career interests you?
I plan to study business administration with a concentration in entrepreneurship to build a career as a professional photographer. This degree will hopefully give me the skills in brand management and digital marketing in which will help me run my own creative business.
