Please welcome Greysen to the State Ranking List. Currently she is listed as the 8th best overall player in the 2029 grad class according to the Prep Dig Texas State Ranking List. Miss Ortmeier is a 5’11″ setter and right side from Tomball High School who also competes for Houston Juniors Volleyball Club. She stands out because of her exquisite skill set when delivering the ball to her attackers. Her very high volleyball IQ becomes clear as she helps guide her squad against open level competition that is a year older than her while she plays up an age group. It is impressive that she is not only competing with older players but thriving in a leadership role as a starting setter. Her hands are extremely clean as she contacts and releases the ball to her hitters with precision. There is not a set on the court that she cannot seem to paint the bullseye with time after time. That level of repeatability comes from her mirror image hand technique that keeps her delivery consistent. You can clearly tell that she has spent countless hours getting quality repetitions to perfect her craft. Please help us congratulate Greysen on being named one of the top players in the 2029 grad class.

Ortmeier will start her high school career with Tomball at Katy HS, facing Grand Oaks, Katy and Tomas. Despite being a freshman, I expect her to get significant playing time this season, from which she can benefit to continue improving her game. Being a tall and technical setter, Ortmeier starts from a very good spot to evolve into an elite playmaker. Besides her intelligent distribution and her consistency with her locations, she also brings to the table a solid blocking presence and aggressive serving.

Ortmeier set for HJV 14 Elite in the last club season and, even though I only got to watch her once, she made a strong impression. Her game is very smooth, as she moves very well on the court and the ball comes out of her hand very naturally. Because of her long frame and excellent body control, Ortmeier does a great job of reaching tight passes up at the net and offers a solid blocking presence. The setter is also a very good server, who consistently gets opponents out of system with her floaters.

Ortmeier and her HJV 14 Elite team ended the event with two wins and four losses, playing against older competition. She used her length extremely well in her setting duties, easily getting to tight passes up at the net and taking advantage of her high contact point to accelerate the game as much as possible. Ortmeier also thrived with her distribution, showing a great feeling for the game and understanding the moment of each of her hitters. The setter also contributed from the service line, consistently getting opponents out of system with her floaters.
