About Alizah

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I’m a versatile back-row defender competing at an elite club level. I originally trained as an outside hitter, which helped me develop strong court awareness, offensive vision, and the ability to read hitters. That experience allows me to bring a different perspective to my defensive game.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

My teammates say I’m fun, positive, and someone who brings calm to the court. I’m always energetic and in a good mood, and I love making my teammates laugh, especially in high-pressure moments. I’m mentally tough, don’t get in my head, and perform well under pressure. I play with confidence and a team-first mindset, and I take pride in lifting others up and helping my teammates stay focused.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

No

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Adversity taught me resilience and adaptability. Moving from hitter to back row made me mentally tougher and team-first. Volunteering with my team to serve unhoused people at Christmas taught me leadership, gratitude, and the importance of community. I bring positive energy every day and stay calm under pressure. I take pride in lifting my teammates up and leading by example.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

One of my biggest challenges was being an undersized hitter and having to transition to the back row. It pushed me out of my comfort zone, but taught me resilience, adaptability, and how to put the team first. I became mentally tougher and learned to stay confident under pressure.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a competitive college volleyball program that values effort, versatility, and mental toughness, especially in undersized players who bring energy and consistency to the court. I want a program that develops athletes, offers scholarship opportunities, and supports my goal of earning a nursing degree while competing at a high level.
