Expert Analysis
Guilherme Torres | Prep Dig Scout
Lyles and her Cy-Fair team will play their first matches at Katy Taylor HS, where they will face Dawson, Katy Taylor and Alief Taylor. A junior, the middle will be a key piece for the team with her ability to make an impact in the middle by using her superior athleticism. Lyles is not among the tallest middles in the region, but she’s excellent at finding ways to compete and beat them. Her athleticism plays a big factor in it, as it allows her to get off the floor very well and move with tremendous quickness at the net. Also capable of playing on the right, she is a terrific offensive player who makes contact with the ball at a very high point, is capable of hitting every set in the middle, and can put a lot of heat into her swings.

brings versatility and power to the front row, excelling as both a middle and right-side hitter. She attacks with a strong, high-contact swing that challenges blockers and creates problems for defenders. Her quick transition off the net is impressive. Her ability to stay ready—especially after taking the first ball—highlights her court awareness and athleticism. Amaiya has built a strong connection with her setter, which allows her to stay in rhythm and remain a consistent offensive threat. I’m excited to see what she and her team bring to the court this weekend as they gear up for a big run toward Nationals.

Amaiya is currently an unranked prospect in the 2027 class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings. She plays volleyball at Cy Fair High School and club for the MoCo MAVS volleyball program. Miss Lyles definitely showed that you don’t need to be over six feet tall in order to impact a game. She was very active at the net and didn’t back down from any challenge throughout the scrimmage portion of the event. She is fully capable of running every route in the middle position with speed and accuracy from what I saw. By being a smaller middle, she has mastered the timing needed to still get a solid strong swing on the ball and be a scoring threat. Her court coaches also noted that she was a true joy to be around and that will be helpful to any coach that needs great people to fill their rosters. We are very proud of what she showcased and think she has some true potential. Please help us congratulate her on earning a Top Performer award at the Expo.
