About Amaris

What's your biggest strength as a player, and how does it show up in games?

I bring consistency and resiliency to every game I play in, both in skills and my mental and emotional resiliency. I bring a spark and energy to the court and build up my teammates. I know that mistakes are going to happen and I use them to learn rather than getting down on myself or others. I am a dependable anchor for my team!

What are you working to improve right now?

I’m working on my reaction times, reading hitters quicker to put myself in the most optimal defensive position, and out of system setting.

What are you looking for in a college program?

What is most important to me is a college program where the coach values their players as humans and gives a lot of feedback. Whatever level that might be is not important to me, I prefer just a good fit.

Outside of your sport, what should coaches know about you?

I have more of an introverted personality, which you wouldn’t know watching me on the court because I’m very outgoing and communicative out there. But I like to spend time at home, I love to read books, I am more of a high achiever in multiple areas of life and am working on enjoying the process rather than focusing so much on the outcome.

What do you want to study, and what career interests you?

As of now, I am interested in a career in the medical field. I also really enjoy math. I still have time to figure it out, and it has been fun to start finding out more and more where my interests and skills lie.

Amaris Handsaker Amaris Handsaker Amaris Handsaker 5'3" | DS/L Baltic | 2030 SD brings some fight to the back row. She’ll pursue a ball outside of her space, work through a tough touch, and try to find a way to keep the rally going. Not every defensive play will be pretty, and Handsaker doesn’t need it to be. Sometimes it’s about getting a hand under the ball and giving your team another touch, and she brings that mentality to the floor. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas
