Angelique Lealofi reads the whole court before she decides where to put the ball, a habit that comes from genuinely knowing all three skills rather than specializing in one. She passes, sets, and hits, and she places shots with intent rather than just finding open grass. That range is exactly why her move from middle to outside for her senior year should read as an asset instead of a question mark. A coach who takes her gets a player who has already proven she can play winning volleyball from more than one spot on the floor, which means she solves problems a single-position recruit can’t. She’s been proactive about the process too, emailing UCLA and SDSU directly during her junior year, and while one program had already filled its 2027 class, she kept reaching out rather than waiting on responses. Her reaction time has also sharpened since last season, showing up in faster closes at the block and quicker first steps on defense.

Being a taller libero is not for the faint of heart as it is tougher to stay low like the height challenged players that dominate this position. So when we see a taller libero with a very disciplined posture show this kind of attention to detail, we know she means business.  Using her height as an advantage, Miss Lealofi showed a very extended range that helped her cover way more ground than smaller players all night throughout the showcase.  When using her platform to control the ball, the ball rebounded very nicely off of her arms.  She seemed to control the ball very well instead of it looking like the ball was controlling her.  By being very calm, cool, and collected on serve receive and while digging, the offense flowed very nicely off of her first contact.  Her frame is very strong and that will lead to many consistent passes to her setter.  She really impressed me and I can’t wait to follow her progress in the sport. 

Angelique’s voice comes through immediately as someone who refuses to take plays off. She describes a game built around effort, but what stands out more is how she’s learning to turn that effort into smart decisions.

She isn’t just trying to win points with power, she’s actively looking for ways to create advantages.

That ability to recognize what’s available and adjust on the fly keeps her involved in every rally. She also brings a strong internal approach to the game, relying on self-talk, confidence, and quick resets to stay present.

Angelique reflects a player who competes with belief and awareness, someone who can impact the match even when the play doesn’t unfold perfectly.
