She’s one of those defensive players who quietly put on excellent performances and are nearly indispensable for their teams. The main key to Spell’s game is her excellent reading of the game, which often places her one step ahead of everyone else on the court and helps her make complicated plays look easy. Spell, who has excellent ball control, is also very efficient when covering her hitters and setting in transition.

I was already very familiar with Spell’s game after watching her play for both her high school Langham Creek and her club Houston Juniors and she certainly didn’t disappoint. Spell is one those liberos that make the game look easy with her high volleyball IQ. She’s always one step ahead and keep things simple whenever possible. She also does a lot of the little things you’d look for in a libero such as covering her hitters and setting well in transition.

Langham Creek’s starting libero, Spell impresses with her outstanding ball control. She can always send the ball exactly where she wants and that’s such a valuable asset for the Lobos. Spell’s positioning is also very good and that makes her touch a lot of balls on defense – and control most of them. She seems to always be very calm and focused on the court and also helps the team with her serving.
