Prep Dig will be following the action closely and every match I get to attend will be followed with a Top Performers Report, highlighting the prospects who stood out on the court, and a photo gallery.
On Tuesday, September 5, I was at the Cypress area following the match between the Langham Creek Lobos and the Cy-Fair Bobcats, which will both begin district play later this week, on Friday.
Playing at home, the Lobos were better in the final portions of each set to take the match in three (25-18, 25-22, 25-22) and head into district play with a 21-7 win record. The Bobcats completed their non-district schedule with 15 wins and 11 losses.
Top Performers
Langham Creek’s senior outside hitter was extremely consistent during the match and kept her level of play elevated from start to finish. Very explosive at the net, she had an important role in the team’s offense and was very efficient with her swings, bringing a lot to the table with her game. Williams made very few mistakes despite her high usage and gave the Lobos great stability with her game. She also did a good job on the backcourt, handling most of the serves that went her way well and making some important defensive plays.
Highlights
Langham Creek’s towering middle got her game going on set two and from there on, she was extremely dominant at the net. Taylor wasn’t much involved in the team’s offense at the start, but once she started getting set more often, she became a key piece in the Lobos’ victory. Her size advantage against Cy-Fair’s middle was brutal and she took full advantage of it to score at an excellent rate, even throwing in a smart tip to mix things up every once in a while. Her blocking was also a major factor in the final two sets as besides getting several stops (many of which on Cy-Fair’s leading scorer Arianna Muoneke Arianna Muoneke 6’0″ | OH Cy-Fair | 2026 State TX ), she also got several touches at the net. Taylor also scored the game-winning point on a service ace in a moment that Cy-Fair was threatening to extend the match.

Moved into Langham Creek’s starting lineup due to an injury to junior Ariana Spell Ariana Spell 5’6″ | DS/L Langham Creek | 2025 TX , Dupuis was very calm and confident against Cy-Fair. She quietly got the job done at the libero position, delivering exactly what the team needed on the backcourt to play consistently. Dupuis wasn’t targeted by Cy-Fair’s serves very often, but she was solid when that happened. Her defense was also very productive and the libero also made some important plays by covering her hitters.
Langham Creek’s high-flying outside hitter was the strong offensive player she always is, playing a central role in the team’s game plan. She thrives by using her impressive vertical to erase any difficulties she could have on offense and that was the case too against the Bobcats as she was very difficult to stop. Jones displayed an extremely versatile game, swinging with great efficiency from the left, right and the back and, except for a few moments, was very consistent. She also did fine on the backcourt with her passing and defense and had a couple of serves that got the Bobcats out of system.
Highlights
Cy-Fair’s senior setter did a very good job running the team’s offense. She remained consistent with her locations during the entire match and was reliable and effective with her ball distribution. Byerly also displayed some good creativity by moving her hitters around to make things harder for Langham Creek’s blockers when working with free balls. She tried quite a few setter dumps and scored on a few of them, but got the Lobos out of system in nearly all of them. Byerly also made big plays on defense, generating transition opportunities for her team.
Highlights
A new face with Cy-Fair this season, Muoneke played like the centerpiece of the team’s offense she is. Her first-set performance wasn’t much impactful, but her game improved after that and she was one of the reasons for the close scores on sets two and three. Set very often, she had some difficulties against Langham Creek’s big block, but displayed good maturity to find solutions for those moments and managed to put the ball down with tips or by tooling the block. She didn’t get to pass in every rotation, but did well when Langham Creek targeted her and also did fine on defense.
