About Ashlyn

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I’m a six-rotation outside hitter with a gritty, high-effort playing style. I take pride in being dependable in both serve receive and defense, and I’m the kind of player who never quits on a play. Whether it’s getting a tough dig or putting the ball away, I stay aggressive, composed, and focused on doing whatever it takes to help my team win.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I will be the hardest worker in the gym. First to arrive and last to leave. Thanks to God, I have been blessed with the ability to play a game I truly love and cherish every day I can step onto the court.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I receive academic awards for Head of School Academic. I am very involved on campus and support all our athletic teams. Club volleyball is a very time consuming activity and I donate my time when I can.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

As an outside hitter on a nationally ranked volleyball team, I’ve developed leadership, resilience, and a deep understanding of teamwork. My role requires me to perform under pressure, take big swings in high-stakes moments, and always bring energy to the court. I’ve learned how to lead by example—whether that’s putting in extra reps after practice, staying positive during tough matches.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Off the court, I’ve been really fortunate and haven’t faced major life challenges. But on the court, I’ve had to work through two injuries that kept me from playing for short periods of time. Even though they didn’t require surgery, the recovery process was tough because it is hard to be sidelined from the sport you love and watch your team compete without you.

What type of college are you looking for?

Strong academic school with the ability to play volleyball at a competitive collegiate level.
