About Ashtyn

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I try not to let my mistakes get the best of me. Opportunities are missed if I focus on errors. I take those moments, learn from them, and use them to improve my mindset.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I’m not one to let my frustration show. I am usually the one encouraging others to look for a positive.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I’m involved in AVID and student council. Both these organizations allow me to accumulate volunteer hours in our community. Most hours were spent mentoring in a kindergarten class that is at one of our elementary feeder schools.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I encourage my teammates to focus on one serve/receive at a time. I remind them that we are a team and we need to build one another up.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

This past season (23/24) we had several players step away during the season. We were able to secure an American Bid in spite of our challenges. We persevered and came together to play as a team. We used these challenges to push us to play our best.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a college that is able to help me have experiences that help me be a better version of myself. One that gives me opportunities through internships and interactions with people in the business world. A school that allows me to pursue my passion for volleyball, while helping me build a foundation for the future.
