Playing her first tournament with new team Houston Skyline 18 Royal, Maxwell added some firepower to their offense and was part of their victorious campaign in the 18s division. A heavy hitter with tremendous resources, she seems to have integrated well with her new teammates and also strengthened the team’s blocking. She also contributed with her versatility, playing as an outside hitter on certain moments, and indicated she’ll only get better as the team chemistry improves as the season progresses.

Maxwell will be the heavy hitter in her HJV 17 Elite team that will compete in the 17 Open division. A player with excellent physical tools, she’s very difficult to stop when in system, but has also developed her offense in different ways and has become a very efficient player when out of system too. Her decision-making at the net is what makes of her such an efficient and productive player. Maxwell is also an excellent blocker, using her size and reading of the game to get in the way of opposing pin hitters and shutting them down.

On the right, on the other hand, Maxwell set herself apart from the competition early on with her strong play with division winners HJV 17 Elite. Her power on the right made of her the team’s most consistent scoring option and Maxwell didn’t disappoint, putting the ball down in a variety of ways. A hitter with so many resources is always a handful for opponents and that was certainly the case with her at the H-Town Showdown #2. Maxwell was also one of the best overall blockers in the event and I saw her get a handful of beautiful stuffs.

A versatile and powerful offensive player, Maxwell lined up on the right this week for division winners HJV 17 Elite and was the team’s primary scoring option. Her offensive game is truly complete as she has good size, great reach, tremendous power and endless resources to put the ball down. Maxwell has very obviously developed her game over the last few years as she’s capable of scoring with finesse and is also very efficient when out-of-system. She was also incredibly effective with her blocking and made some really empathic stops at the net.

Maxwell is somewhat of a similar player to Phills when you think she also hits the ball very hard and can play multiple positions across the net. She came up as a middle, but has long adjusted to playing at the pins and has been more used on the right with HJV 17 Elite. Maxwell is extremely physical and uses that to her advantage, jumping well and making contact with the ball at a very high point when hitting and putting on a big and balanced block in front of opposing hitters. She can also hit quicker or higher sets with great success.
