About Ava

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

As an on court leader, I like to run an offense that keeps the opposing team on their toes; I like to run a fast tempo offense.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I believe that our off court culture is what wins games! I encourage and lead team Bonding activites often. I am mentally tough and do not let an error control what happens next.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am invovled in young life, high school/club swim, lso volleyball camps, and SAAB (student athletic advisory board); I have recieved high honor roll each year for academics as well.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Teaching both volleyball and swim lessons has strengthened my leadership by learning how to guide, encourage, and motivate young athletes with patience and positivity. It also taught me responsibility and adaptability as I created a safe, supportive environment where kids could build skills and confidence.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

While I have been blessed with minor challenges compared to most, each challenge can be significant if you allow it. I make sure I have given 110%, I communicate with coaches and teachers, and I do not allow small setbacks to define me.

What type of college are you looking for?

Ideally, I want a place to feel like home! I love the large school feeling that allows me to participate in not just sports, but other leadership roles; I also want one that has a strong education career path as that is what I currently want to do.

Kennedy (*pictured) has good all-around tools as a setter. She gets her hands up high and early and shows good control of her force and extension to get all of her hitters involved in the middle and at the pins. She is not afraid to take risks when on the move to set against the flow or to play the ball over as a setter attack. Her junior season for Lakota West included 222 total assists, which will likely lead to an uptick next fall with more opportunities due to graduation.
