About Avery

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

Intense, driven, quick, powerful, smart

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I have a very positive mindset on the court. I love lifting up my teammates and always have the next ball attitude. If I make a mistake I try to learn as much from it as possible. I always cheer on my other teammates and can take criticism and advice from coaches.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I have received many awards for my academics including 4 spotlight on scholarship awards from high-school. I was part of math league during middle school and am 3 years ahead of grade level in mathematics. I have also earned a 4 in AP US History and a 5 in AP Human Geography and AP Calculus AB. I am part of my high-school's National Honor Society and I am also also a Link Leader.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have been a leader on my club team for many years and I have also been captain for the last few years. I played for the Ncr all stars u17 team and this year I was chosen to be captain. I also work on a team during school and in both softball and volleyball. I am a part of National Honor Society and have over 30 hours of volunteer work.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I have faced the challenge of not always having money or access to gym space so I need to practice by myself outside and find others ways to learn and improve my play.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a college that prioritizes school and volleyball. I am looking for a college within the United States. I am not picky about the area. I'm not sure about size and would like to play Division II but I am open to all opportunities.

Desota-Weston is an electric 2027 setter with a huge ceiling. Desota-Weston preps at Blaine where she can be seen in both a 6-2 and 5-1 offense. She has a high game IQ, excellent court vision, and the quickness to deliver sets that are not only precise in location, but are also precisely what her attackers need. Desota-Weston is not just a setter, but also a solid defender. She reads the opposing teams attackers well and positions herself properly to either run through tips and dumps or dig hard cross and line shots.
