Expert Analysis

Standing at an imposing 6’2″, Avery has the potential to be one of the most dominant players in southern Indiana this season. In her first three seasons of volleyball at Forest Park, Hill has put up huge numbers, recording 253 blocks and 506 kills. Her number as a junior were especially eye-popping, posting 119 blocks and 244 kills at a .317 hitting percentage. Hill moves extremely well for her size, using her athleticism and length to generate a powerful swing. Hill has gotten better each year of her high school career, so look for her to have a monster season for the Rangers as a senior.

Although more of a right side than a traditional middle at this time, Avery’s length and exceptional jumping ability set her apart from a lot of middles found in southwestern Indiana. From super small Forest Park, Avery’s ability to take over a match at the small school level was immediately apparent. When club season started, however, she proved her mettle and that her full-go and no-quit mentality carried her far against more seasoned competition. Miss Hill will be a steal for anyone looking for a developing middle coming to volleyball later than most that can play multiple positions at the next level simply because of her athletic acuity.

About as under-the-radar as you can get, Avery is a raw and very athletic middle that can dabble a bit as a right side option on both offense and defense. Forest Park is a tiny high school in southwestern Indiana, and Metro might not be the biggest club, but the beating she can put on a ball is impressive and has size and length for days that looks every bit the part of a D1 volleyball recruit.

Avery is a long and lean attacker from small school Forest Park in the southwestern part of Indiana. Her length absolutely dominates in the middle, and her speed and terminal abilities on the right side are hard to stop. I had a chance to see her take over a couple of matches at the Early Bird Shootout, and nearly every set she got she put away with authority. Although Metro itself didn’t exactly finish the way they wanted to, their extensive travel schedule and continued improvement will put Avery on the midwest recruiting map sooner rather than later.

This young lady has come out of nowhere for me. A three-sport athlete at Forest Park, Avery is a tall and long presence that can put balls away as a middle or as a right side, and did just that on Sunday. I think she needs a little more width to her block, but after her first tournament on Sunday, she impressed me with her ability and willingness to go for it on every swing, and bounce a few balls in the process. You can’t teach size, and Avery has every bit of it in her multi sport frame.
