Avery Sundberg traveled further than just about anyone else in the building to get to Indianapolis, and she made every mile worth it. The 5’7″ libero was quick and decisive in the back row, reading attacks early and getting her platform under balls that most defenders at this level give up on before they take a step. Her court coverage was exceptional throughout both the skill segments and the scrimmage competition, and the composure she showed handling pace from hitters she had never seen before was the quality court coaches kept coming back to when they talked about her performance. She communicated well, competed with genuine edge, and brought the kind of defensive energy that lifts everyone around her.
