Simpson seems to become a little more solid each time I watch her play. That was the case again at the Live Like Line Tournament, where she played a key role in the Clippers winning a title. During straight-set victories against 5A ranked Ankeny and Iowa City West, Simpson delivered a combined 10 kills and 6.0 blocks. That was going up against opponents with talented middles. She’s a two-way presence at the net that successful teams need. Simpson possesses long arms and explosive athleticism. Her attack has become more powerful and consistent in the last year. Couple that with her improvement in reading the block, and you have a problem for opponents. Defensively, the work she’s put into being a successful and consistent blocker is apparent.
