Expert Analysis
Guilherme Torres | Prep Dig Scout
Reed is one of the pillars of the TAV 15 Black Josh team that will compete in the 15 Open division in Kansas City. Capable of playing on the right or the left, she’s a tremendous asset to the team, combining size and power with strong technical skills. Also a standout basketball player, Reed is extremely athletic and that shows every time she goes up at the net to swing. She’s very technical too and will often score in difficult situations with smart, well-placed shots, but it’s her size and power that set her apart. She also passes at a high level and can contribute as a six-rotation outside hitter if needed.

Reed was another prospect who made a strong impression on both pins. When left-side hitters play on the right, they tend to lose power and get a little bit more cautious with their swings, but that definitely wasn’t the case with Reed, who kept hammering the ball wherever she was. A six-footer, she was always in a good position to swing and didn’t hold anything back, overpowering opponents to put the ball down. Reed also displayed excellent ball control, especially in serve-receive, when she played on the left, proving to be an extremely well-rounded player.

Blayklee is currently an unranked prospect in the 2028 Class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings, but that is only because we have not released them yet. She plays volleyball at Prosper High School and also plays club for the Texas Advantage Volleyball program. Miss Reed had a solid performance in this past summer’s Freshman showcase that we ran in Dallas and she is back for some more! Her production on the floor led to her earning a Top Performer award from our court coaches. This wonderfully gifted two-sport stud also shines on the basketball hardwood. What I really love about her play is how she enjoys the game so much and you can see it in her celebrations and effort level. Blessed with a high motor, there is never a time that she takes a play off and doesn’t contribute. Her height and frame are prototypical for someone who will battle at the net at both ends. She is able to adjust her footwork to the ball if the set dies inside a little and this shows just how athletic she is. Just now coming into her own and growing into her frame, she is poised for a breakout year and we cannot wait to see how much she has grown during the school season. I think she has a very high ceiling to keep improving so give her a look.
