Caroline bumped from 166 to 152, the only setter in the class of 2027 to take a big rise in the rankings. She made an impression with one of our Prep Dig writers as a setter to watch. I added her to the rankings in 2025 at 162.

She is the top setter for Frank Cox. Last year she set a 5/1 finishing with an amazing 653 assists. That puts her just shy of 200 assists to hit the 1,000 assist mark. She also plays her position well defensively with 255 digs, second to the libero.

Last year Ocean Lakes swept Frank Cox in the semi-finals of the Class 5A Regionals. In addition to Caroline they have some talented players returning in left side Avery Osler Avery Osler 6'0" | OH/DS/L Frank W Cox | 2027 State VA , right side India Starr India Starr 6'4" | RS Cox | 2028 State VA and libero June Culicerto June Culicerto 5'10" | DS/L/OH Cox | 2027 VA . At 5’10” June stands out as one of our tallest liberos.

Caroline Butkovich has become a setter that I can rely on to do the right thing. When the pass takes her off the net, she does not panic or rush the next touch. She settles the offense down, she puts a solid ball up, and she gives her hitters a chance to be aggressive.
