Lowman is displaying great leadership skills on the court. She is constantly encouraging her teammates. Lowman makes outstanding first touches and sets. Lowman makes sure she bends her arms and extends on her sets. Lowman executes a number of long and short sets, including back sets. On defense, she steps toward balls, but stops in her tracks to make crisp passes. Lowman also does a great job backing up the net. Lowman appears ready to step into a bigger role for Ashland this fall after the graduation of a large senior class.

Lowman has really improved her range and passing during club season playing some libero for the 16A team. Lowman reads hitters well and squares her body up to balls with a steady platform. She tracks down a lot of balls, yet remains under control. Lowman makes a lot of the simple passes trying to get 16A and Ashland into a good rhythm. Lowman takes minimal steps before stopping to get to balls. She uses her setting experience at the libero spot to make quality out of system sets. Lowman has shown her effectiveness at setter with her ability to spread balls out to different hitters. She puts balls at high attack points with her quick hands and does not lock her arms.

Lowman (pictured) normally sets, but stepped into the libero role over the weekend and excelled. Lowman positions herself well behind blocks. Lowman has good range. She can back up and handle hard hits but lunge forward to dig up tips and softer swings. Lowman also runs track and field at Ashland and will benefit from on the court from the use of other muscles.

Lowman has displayed great improvement at the setter spot throughout the season. Lowman does a variety of sets including back sets and makes smooth passes. Lowman also leads the Kittens in aces. She does a great job keeping opponent out of rhythm, mixing up serving locations. Lowman said she feels she’s improved as a setter by developing chemistry with the seniors and learning how to run quicker sets offensively.

Lowman (pictured) does a great job distributing balls in the high-octane Ashland offense. Lowman consistently reads blocking and defensive schemes well then makes the right decisions. Lowman has a jump set to put extra power into sets and let Ashland’s 6-0 and 5-11 middles smack balls at the peeks of their vertical jumps. Lowman sets her feet to deliver quality short and long sets both in and out of system. Lowman mixes in setovers well. She also puts up nice double blocks, makes crisp first touches and delivers sound line drive serves.

Lowman (pictured) brings flexibility to Ashland’s 6-2 attack with a great variety of short and long sets. Lowman is a sound passer, setting the Kittens up for success with first touches. Lowman said communicating with hitters well and figuring out what they want are keys to good sets. Lowman had 254 digs last fall, helping Ashland go 33-7 and win the 16th Region crown.
