Marcum has a good wrist snap allowing her to be able to pound balls through double blocks. Marcum can spray ones and gap shots to different parts of the court. She had a great one to the left line in one of the games helping the 16 Ashland team to a 3-0 day. Marcum effectively executed tandems with her teammates. Marcum is as solid as ever on her blocking. In a lopsided game, Marcum tried to execute a pipe hitting from the middle back row. Marcum said that surprised her, knowing the team just started working on it and will do more of it. Marcum agreed hitters separate themselves when they can hit from the back row.

Marcum is a matchup nightmare for many teams in the state. Not only is she tall, but has great athleticism and the Ashland staff has put her in great positions to succeed. The setters put balls at the peak of her swing so she can slam down balls over and around blockers. Marcum rips balls into seams making defensive specialists have to move quick to dig them up. Marcum is especially tough on ones, depositing balls to different zones on the court. Marcum slams them to left line in the four zone on one play then tips it to the one zone on the next play. Marcum also has great timing on her blocking. She slows balls down for Ashland’s defensive specialists.

Marcum (pictured) has turned into one of the more dominant middles in the state with her size and athleticism. She moves quick at the net and uses a strong vertical to block if not get hands on balls to help out defenders. Marcum goes up and around blockers for big kills and draws blockers off teammates.

Marcum has performed up to standards in the middle thus far for the Kittens. Marcum uses her size and a good wrist snap to send balls flying toward the lines. Marcum also mixes in soft touches to the middle to keep defenses guessing. She helps control the net with good timing on her vertical jumps.

Marcum (pictured) benefitted from some varsity experience last year and has picked it up several notches during club and summer seasons. Marcum gives the team a solid option in the middle. Marcum takes hard swings on balls and is a solid blocker. Marcum will draw double blocks in the middle, which opens things up for Ashland’s powerful outside hitters. Marcum said a combination of good personalities and a good coach will lead the team to continued success coming off a 64th District and 16th Region title.
