Another Western Iowa athlete to know is Charley Hernandez Charley Hernandez Charley Hernandez 5'7" | DS/L Glenwood | 2025 State IA who is having a huge high school season for Glenwood.  She has collected over 300 kills, over 250 digs, and 40 aces.  She impacts the game in every facet.  She has played her club ball at Premier in Omaha where she has received high level training which is paying off for her senior year.  Glenwood is 33-6 and will be looking for a trip to state tournament after a big run of trips around 2020.

Hernandez had over 300 kills as a junior and landed a spot on the Class 3A All State team.  She will be looking to cap off a solid career with a big senior season.  At 5’7, she can flat out fly and is absolutely electric on the outside.  She can go line, cross, she does it all with a really solid skill set where she has played club at Premier Nebraska out of Omaha.  Glenwood always plays a rugged schedule which includes a tough conference slate in the Hawkeye Ten with top teams out of Southwest Iowa.  They went 30-11 and 9-1 in the conference.  Hernandez will look to connect with her senior counterpart in setter Allison Koontz Allison Koontz S Glenwood | 2025 State IA .

Hernandez is technically an Iowa prep athlete, but let’s bend the rules a bit for this Premier Nebraska standout. Past seasons have allowed Hernandez to put her outside attacking skills on display, but NLQ reminded us of Hernandez’s potential as a defensive specialist, too. She forms a cohesive bond with her fellow defenders and is quick to close any open seams on either side of Zone 6. Premier 17 Black’s evolution will be a compelling storyline in 2024, and Hernandez is squarely in that conversation.
