Deborah Makama has a specific model in mind for her game. “I’m intentionally training my serve receive in hopes of becoming a passer like Chloe Chicoine on Louisville,” she said, working with her coaches on faster, deeper reps to help her read and pick a side quicker. Her teammates lean on her when the pressure’s on. “I think having a calm player to look at when games get tight or when you make a mistake is very important,” she said.

Deborah is building her college list and actively contacting coaches, with strong interest in playing beach volleyball in California.

Folsom finished 29th overall.

Deborah is looking forward to being tested by California’s best. “Im looking foward to competing against some of the best teams in the nation. I love to be in competitive environments where everyone wants to play their best volleyball,” she said.

Her hitting is what stands out first. “I think im best known for my hitting. I always try and use my whole tool box of hitting options,” she said.

She’s set her sights on playing in college, with a strong interest in beach volleyball as she builds her list and starts reaching out to coaches.

Beyond the court, Deborah keeps a growing book collection and gravitates toward fantasy novels whenever she gets the chance to dive into one.
