About Delaney

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I would say that I am very energetic on the court and there isn't a ball that I won't try to get to, even if I have an itch that I won't reach it. I hustle, read the defensive blockers well and tell my hitters what is open, and I'm dubbed the "Queen of the Serve" by our local radio announcer Trevor Bentley!

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I believe that attitude carries a game. If you play with a smile on your face and don't let something small like a mistake get to you, I think that that characteristic will help win games and create a fun atmosphere for everyone! I'm mentally tough when things get hard and all I can think of is "Let's cite out!", "We got this!", "Hit/Serve to me again, I've got it!"

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am involved in FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America), Interact, United Methodist Youth Group, FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes), and National Honor Society. I am also a part of my church's Technology Crew for Sunday worships.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I've developed lots of leadership, work ethic, and teamwork skills through volleyball and wrestling. Winning isn't given. You earn it by working outside of practices and games. This is how I gained my work ethic and leadership skills. Teamwork comes from bonding and creating a common goal for your team. For example, my volleyball team this year came up with five values we lived by for the season.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

The one challenge that I've really faced is having an injury that took half of my breakaway season. I broke my finger in a wrestling incident one week before vb season started, and I was heartbroken. I went through rehab and worked out my body the most that I could without putting too much strain on my finger, and it worked out for me! I came back and two weeks in I was playing full-time varsity!

What type of college are you looking for?

I really like small colleges that have a homey feeling to it. I like colleges that are close to home but also far enough away I can do my own thing and experience life. I want somewhere that will help me get to where I want to be academically but where I can also thrive athletically.

Here’s a big one for the small-town contingent. South Central NE has given us plenty of showcase standouts over the years, and Jennings added to the narrative at Saturday’s outing. The St. Paul upperclassman put up over 200 digs this fall in a key DS role for the Wildcats, so she set a high bar heading into our winter showcase. Jennings backed up her breakout season with a stout all-around stay in Elkhorn. Facing some lightning fast arms in six-on-six drills did not stop Jennings from producing higlight-worthy saves along the end line.
