The Brueggemann sisters were as advertised at this year’s state tournament. Ella’s final numbers on the 2024 campaign are something to behold: 4.6 kills per set on a 0.337 clip. She also helped out in the ball control phase with three and a half assists per set. This do-it-all mentality put Thayer Central on the cusp of a massive upset in the Class C2 finale against three-time defending champion Lincoln Lutheran. Brueggemann put Thayer Central on the map, giving the program a lot to build upon for 2025.

The Brueggemann name looms large at Thayer Central. Ella has done some of everything for the Titans, including putting down 4.3 kills per set on a colossal 0.364 hitting percentage. Brueggemann can also put on her setter hat and has averaged a few assists per set, too. This all-around effort has placed Thayer Central among the top championship competitors in Class C2, so a tournament bid is likely looming. We’ll see what Brueggemann can accomplish against the state’s most established volleyball powerhouses.

Thayer Central has been on the cusp of state tournament appearances lately, so perhaps 2024 will be the breakthrough year. Brueggemann will surely have a say in that. The junior led Thayer Central in a variety of statistical categories by doing just about everything: setting, hitting, and everything in between. Brueggemann dished out over five assists per set as a backcourt setter and added 2.7 kills on a 0.316 clip. That’s a lot to take in. The Titans know who their senior leader will be next year, and Brueggemann is due for another big season.
