Cochran may enjoy the benefit of year-round cohesion, with several of her Kearney High School teammates joining her for club competition at Kearney Elite. However, this is the kind of libero whose skills translate to any environment. Cochran has a quiet, stable platform that is ready-made for the Zone 6 coverage in serve-receive. Furthermore, her smooth hands as a secondary setter guided 17 Black through some scramble situations this season. The Bearcats are bringing quite a 2027 cast to the Class A fold this fall, and Cochran will surely be one to follow.

How about one more Kearney athlete for your consideration? Cochran has been a rock for her Kearney Elite group since we started honing in on the team last year. Her defensive skills have paved the way for 17 Black’s frontcourt weapons to thrive, leading to plenty of highlight-worthy attacks. This is the kind of libero who doesn’t need the flashy, head-turning plays to make a splash. Rather, Cochran makes tough plays look routine.

We couldn’t leave out Kearney Elite 16-1’s featured defender. Cochran’s reliable platform has contributed to Kearney Elite’s meteoric rise in the Great Plains Region. Aside from her ability to lock down first touches and help her setter, Cochran is an extraordinary leader who gels well with her year-round teammates. High-level experience from spring competitions should lead to more breakthroughs at Kearney High School this fall.
