Slayback had a sound sophomore season for Cooper and carried that strong play into the event. Slayback uses her size to dominate the net. Slayback swings hard offensively and has great form on blocking trying to at least slow down balls for her defensive specialists. Slayback has strong serves trying to keep opponents out of rhythm.

Slayback put together another nice game for the Jaguars. She’s been consistent all season. Slayback once again used her size well to at least deflect balls at the net. She served hard to different spots to help keep Dixie Heights out of rhythm. Slayback said being aggressive and trying to get hands on every ball are keys to dominant net play.

Slayback did turn away some balls at the net with sound double teams. She had a good club season putting balls down and continues to do that for the Jaguars. Slayback will continue to find different ways to put balls down, especially if Cooper develops more of a consistent offensive rhythm.

Carnes credited Slayback for sealing the net for the defense. Slayback does a good job controlling the net. Slayback has outstanding timing on her blocks. Slayback could help the Jaguars make waves in the rugged 9th Region in the coming years with her work ethic. Slayback said staying ready, watching the setter and making observations where hitters place ball on the court is the key to sound net play.

Slayback has the potential to dominate the middle with her size. Carnes said Slayback’s swing has gotten stronger as the season progressed. Carnes added she’s learned new plays and executed them successfully. Carnes said Slayback has a great block to seal the net and aid the defense.
