About Payton

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I am an aggressive player, I go hard after every ball, and I am not afraid to hit the floor to keep the play going. I do my best to keep my teammates' energy up and cheer them on. I have a high reach and aggressive swing, but I know when it's best to change up my shots.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I have a next point mentality, whenever I make a mistake, I am able to shake it off and take the next point, and I do my best to apply the same with my teammates. I am very high energy, positive, and loud, and I encourage my teammates and help them when they are down. One thing any Coach can count on is I will always take feedback and put it into action, and I will always give 110% every time.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Through my volleyball career, I've developed skills such as communication, teamwork, perseverance and grit, and qualities including my work ethic, coachability, and resilience.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

A big challenge for me was starting volleyball as a seventh grader. I was so far behind my peers, and I didn't know how to give up, so I didn't. I worked hard, every single day, eating up any opportunity I had to get better, committing to my first club team. I built my skills and three years later, I've received three national team invites from different clubs, and I am approaching my 700th kill.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a college that has an entrepreneurship Minor or other form of education, and a volleyball program where I can thrive alongside my teammates in a positive environment. I would love to be in the east coastal states, because who doesn't love warm weather and beaches? I am open to any location, however.

Fish takes hard rips from the middle and pins. She’s tough when she’s on target with them. Fish angles balls off blocks well for big points. Fish goes hard after balls and displays great energy on the court. Fish is also a sound passer. Fish said she tries to get on top of balls to get good power into them, adding it is tougher to hit balls hard if players get behind them.
