I first saw Grace Morgan Grace Morgan 5'6" | DS/L/OH Cave Spring | 2028 State VA play at the Endless Summer tournament. When she heard I was going to be out there she asked if I could stop by and watch her play. I did, but she only played back row in the game I watched. As a frosh she showed good skills playing for the varsity so she made the rankings. She was also at one of our Prep Dig showcases last year but she played with the liberos and my assigned positions to watch were outsides and middles.

This year it appears she is back to hitting outside despite her 5’6″ height. She had a big game against Salem where she performed a triple double in their five set win. Grace finished the game with 15 kills, 6 aces (but 13 points for serving) and 10 digs. Cave Spring won the fifth set 15-11.

That seemed like some good production so I thought I would take a peek at her season numbers. She leads the team in kills and aces, is second in digs while also lining up for serve receive. Some nice production for a Cave spring team who has next on their agenda Christiansburg. Grace would be a good player to look at with the potential to play libero at a higher level.

In the past week, Grace has played a significant role on this young varsity team. In her last match, she tallied over 10 kills and has maintained an impressive average of 4.3 digs per set. Recently featured in the Prep Dig article “Setters and Liberos New to the 2028 Rankings,” where she made her debut at No. 104 in the state of Virginia for the Class of 2028. This was an evaluation based on video analysis that highlighted her work ethic and motivation to improve. With two back-row players graduating, Grace now has a compelling opportunity to secure the libero position moving forward.

Grace is not one of those players I have seen physicall play on the court. This ranking is based on what video I have seen. She brings the motivation to work hard to improve her game on the court. This results in a 104 debut for out class of 2028. Obviously, this may rise once I see her play.

You have to respect a girl who loves challenges and works hard to improve her game. Those are the players who rise above the competition. Grace appears to have those attributes.

Cave Spring struggled in their high school season last year. That year Grace did not make the varsity roster her frosh season. The Knights lost two of their back row players to graduation this coming season. This gives Grace an opportunity to win the libero job. Despite her 5’6″ height she appears on their roster as a outside hitter/defensive specialist.

Grace proves that waiting for me to watch you play is not a requirement. Sometimes just an email with a video will get you on the radar. Videos fall short of showing the complete player, but they provide an introduction. When building that profile on Prep Dig always include a video. It may put you on the radar.

Grace shows an ability to hit outside, but at 5’5″ her best position exists at libero/defensive specialist. Her video shows she has the tools to play the position. There also is a good work ethic to put herself through physical training to improve her overall strength that will help her game.
