Clearly, Rustad has been playing for a while because she is a really good volleyball player but somehow we have missed each other on the club and high school circuits. Getting my first look at her at the showcase, I quickly realized what I had been missing. She wasn’t just one of the best setters at the event, she was also one of the best players overall. She has great tempo, can set from anywhere on the court, and does a great job moving the ball around to keep defenses guessing. She has the ability to get all of her hitters involved, but she also isn’t afraid to take matters into her own hands with well timed setter dumps. Rustad has a lot of tools, a great volleyball IQ and court awareness, and is a setter I am excited to continue watching as she moves forward.
