Austin Kingsley | Prep Dig Scout
Here’s another elite libero fitting right into a new lineup in 2026. Schuerman has been a much-publicized “utility” player throughout her prep career, doing everything from setting to hitting to defending. Her backcourt niche has flourished on the club side, even as she swapped over to VCNebraska 17 Black for this year’s campaign. The Show Me Qualifier offered a perfect venue for Schuerman’s versatility to shine once again, and an Indianapolis trip awaits.

Schuerman is making herself right at home with her new club. The all-everything athlete from Wilber-Clatonia High School has already cemented her hold on VCNebraska 17 Black’s libero spot–a high honor for any new addition to a lineup. We’ve seen Schuerman play almost any position under the sun during her prep career, but her prior club campaigns have usually brought her defensive prowess into the spotlight. That spotlight grows brighter after Schuerman’s productive NLQ outing, and she will only grow more comfortable with 17 Black moving forward.

Schuerman’s multi-position influence fits right in with our showcase environment. Her circuit appearances have offered a reminder that Schuerman can do almost anything: set, hit, or lock down the backcourt in the libero jersey. Her defensive prowess took precedence with Nebraska ONE 16 Black this year, but we’re anticipating a varied onslaught from Schuerman this fall. Anything is possible.

Find a libero who can do almost anything. It might be easier to list the positions Schuerman hasn’t played during her prep career. The Wilber-Clatonia starter has seen reps as an outside hitter, setter, and defensive specialist. Her backcourt prowess has taken precedence with Nebraska ONE 16 Black, which rolled to a GJNC bid at the Great Plains Region Bid Tournament. Schuerman is primed to sustain her elite play in Dallas.

We know that Nebraska ONE 16 Black boasts a ton of new additions to this year’s lineup, but Schuerman is a vital constant in the back row. We were astounded by Schuerman’s defensive leadership when she competed with 15 Black last spring–even as she played various other positions with Wilber-Clatonia. This versatile sophomore has resumed her libero duties with 16 Black in 2025 and brings her well-rounded skill set to the contrasting jersey. Even if she’s not getting the first contact, Schuerman can step in and deliver dimes as a secondary setter.

No statistical category is off-limits for Schuerman. She was primarily an outside hitter during her freshman year with Wilber-Clatonia, and Schuerman quickly proved to be a good fit for the role. The Wolverines leaned on their first-year star for 2.2 kills per set last fall, but that was just the beginning. Schuerman is also an incredibly productive defender who churned out nearly 300 digs a year ago. This was a good precursor to Schuerman’s stint at libero with Nebraska ONE 15 Black, so multi-position adaptability is a huge plus here. We’ll see which position prevails in Year 2 at Wilber-Clatonia.

Schuerman has established herself as a do-everything athlete in the early stages of her prep career. However, her role with Nebraska ONE 15 Black has been cemented in the libero jersey. This Wilber-Clatonia prep star is a natural defender who understands how to cover gaps and seams. She brings a unique perspective with her multi-position background and seems to apply that to her defensive work with 15 Black. AAU Nationals was the next step in the right direction.

What hasn’t Schuerman done on a volleyball court? The Wilber-Clatonia standout has carried a lot of different roles between her high school and club careers. We’ve seen her attack in the front row, play stellar defense in the back, and even set the offense from time to time. Her primary niche with Nebraska ONE 15 Black has been in the contrasting jersey, and Schuerman dropped plenty of dimes in late-season action. We can’t wait to see what’s next on the positional agenda.
